You Can Buy The Coupons You Need from Dede!

Tuesday, June 16th, 2009

Many of our readers did not know you could buy multiples of a particular coupon, or even an entire coupon insert. So today, were bringing you a Q&A that we asked our new friend Dede to provide our readers.

First, how do we pronounce your name?

Like the 4th letter of the alphabet twice!

Why would someone buy coupons from Dede?

We have the best selection, with both whole inserts and a huge variety of clipped coupons for very reasonable handing fees (lower than many comparable sites) and the easiest site to navigate. But by far our #1 most appreciated quality: OUR UNBEATABLE SPEED! Not only is our turn around time same day the vast majority of the time but most would be amazed the lengths we take to shave off any chances of delay along the route: 1.) We verify/standardize addresses through USPS. 2.) We use Intelligent Mail Barcode (IMB) which not only speeds along transfers at all the usps mail hubs but it also gives us scan along the way to help identify when there is a problem. 3.) Our use of tape has been researched – really! We never use tape on envies as it causes sticking in the usps sorting machines. However, with Priority and Express ALL flaps are taped to avoid snags and wrips. I could go on and on – there’s more… We don’t waste time making several trips to the post office since our sources tell us all trucks end up at the same central processing location for sorting in the evenings… We NEVER stop thinking how to improve our shipping time so our fabulous customers can make that sale!

What advantages do you offer your customers they won’t find elsewhere?

Unbeatable Speed. We have the hot coupons long after other sites are out of stock! The easiest site to navigate and checkout – saved carts, excellent search engine, wishlist, email when back-in-stock lists. Great selection – many different values of many of the coupons to best meet an individuals needs (For example, if their store doubles/triples under $1 then they can choose the 50c/1 value versus the $1/1.)

How long have you been offering your services?

In some capacity since 2005 I suppose – (Wow, it’s been a whirl wind!):

Coupons & Things by Dede started out as a small eBay store specializing in coupon clipping when my local stores stopped doubling and tripling coupons. I couldn’t just throw all the mass of coupons away that I had accumulated so I decided to give eBay a shot. Well, with two young children at home I was not prepared for 1) how quickly it grew and 2) how much I loved it!

A whole lot has changed since then. With one child in daycare and the other starting school in the fall, I am getting comfortable with all of this very quickly. As it’s been since the very beginning, you can count on very fast service – I absolutely will not offer it if I can’t get it to you quickly and efficiently. Yes, it does mean that I can only offer gathering of whole inserts and clipping of a very select group of coupons but as I stream line the website you should see more and more being offered. As of Summer 2008 – I have hired help and expanded our services to included ALL the Sunday Supplement coupons!!

Do you shop/buy in bulk yourself?

Of course! We have so many stock piles of “Things!” Thus the “Things” in Coupons & Things by Dede. Yes, we do intend on offering these discounted items asap. As with the rest of our service I will not offer anything until I’m certain we can provide the best shipping speed and cost… Soon… Hopefully soon…

What would you recommend as your number one couponing tip?

Stay organized and look ahead! There are wonderful sites out there that offer sneak previews of the upcoming sales but at very least, snag that circular when it comes out and get your orders in! Also, carefully evaluate whether clipped coupons are meeting your needs – often keeping a supply of whole inserts is the more economical approach.

What type of coupon caddy or organization method do you use personally?

Depends on the trip – I have a box that works best when I stay organized… Sometimes it’s an envelope stuffed with the coupons for that particular trip. Shoot, I have to admit that sometimes it’s a chunk of coupons stuffed in a pocket! We do the best we can with the time we are given aye!

Your most memorable couponing moment?

I can’t tell you how often I have been in line at the grocery store or in the isles showing someone the art. Particularly in our current economical climate, it almost becomes a responsibility for us couponers to share and encourage others. Sometimes you get do get the “I don’t have time” response but I have seen those folks at the store later and they excitedly tell me they gave it a shot and have cut their grocery bill by huge percentages!

Coupon Stacking Can Save You Big

Wednesday, June 10th, 2009

You’ve seen those news stories where an area “coupon expert” walks into a grocery store and gets $100 worth of groceries for less than $15.00. First off, this isn’t happening every time they go grocery shopping, and they’re using a technique referred to as “coupon stacking.” Coupon stacking is using more than one coupon toward the cost of a single item. Many people think you can’t do it, and while it is true that not all stores allow this practice, those that do open the door to big, big savings.

Lets get to stacking. There are three basic ways to stack coupons. The first is to use both a manufacturer’s coupon (usually has manufacturer coupon printed on it, and usually has a longer expiration date than grocers coupons) used in combination with a store-issued coupon typically found in your weekly printed circulars, on the stores web sites and on those, (annoying to the non-initiated) coupons given with your printed grocery store receipt. The second is to stack any combination of manufacturer’s and store-issued coupons toward the price of an item. Lastly is the third way by stacking a store’s dollar-off coupon, like the $5 off a $25 purchase with manufacturer’s coupons and using applicable store issued coupons.

Coupon stacking policies will vary greatly with each store having their own policies regarding coupon stacking. Here are just a few from our favorite major chains that frequently have both manufacturer coupons and their own store issued coupons.

- CVS is the best for coupon stacking because they allow you to utilize one manufacturer’s coupon with CVS-issued Extra Bucks coupons and a CVS issued dollars off coupon ($5 off a $25 purchase). If you’re not checking the weekly circular for deals you’re missing out!
- Target currently allows stacking one manufacturer’s coupon with one Target store coupon toward the cost of one single item.
- Walgreens currently allows stacking one manufacturer’s coupon with one Walgreens coupon toward the cost of one single item. Like CVS above, watch for the Walgreens weekly circulars, they often have free with rebate items and great coupons you can stack.

If your not sure about your local stores policies, contact the customer service department in advance to save time and avoid any misinformation.
